Course Overview
The main aim of the Technical Specialist Level 3 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy is to enable learners to gain the main practical and theoretical skills necessary to provide Sports Massage Therapy in a environments such as a leisure centre, sports club, or for competitive teams.
Topics may include:
- Anatomy and physiology for sports massage
- Professional practice in sports massage
- Understanding the principles of soft tissue injury and dysfunction
- Sports massage treatments (practical).

Assessment Methods
Assessment is through multiple choice examinations, practical assessments, and case studies.
Progression Options
On successful completion, you could progress to the Level 4 sports massage course or become a Sports Massage Therapist in a beauty salon, spa, leisure club or sports club.
You could also become a Complementary Therapist or work at health farms, on cruise liners or become a self-employed Sports Massage Therapist.
Entry Requirements
You need a Level 2 beauty therapy qualification / Level 2 sports qualification, or a similar relevant Level 2 qualification. Alternatively, any Level 3 qualifications in sports, complementary therapies, anatomy & physiology, beauty therapy, or similar.
