Course Overview
This course is suitable for candidates who have a keen interest in the nail industry. This is suitable for students who are enthusiastic and committed to this short course, and for students that wish to progress onto higher levels in beauty therapy or work in the nail industry.
Five units, including theoretical knowledge and practical understanding. These include:
- Working in the beauty industry
- Follow health and safety in the salon
- Client care and communication
- Promote products and services
- Provide and maintain nail enhancements
Units are taught in class contact sessions including lectures, self-study, tutorials and workshops
Candidates benefit from:

- We offer special activities including day trips, and exhibitions as well as a range of guest speakers from highly acclaimed national and international product companies.
- We also offer additional training from industry to enhance skills and to add to records of achievement/CV such as ear piercing, spray tanning, threading and nail art.
- All staff are experts in their own fields and a variety of teaching staff are used to ensure outstanding teaching and learning is delivered on every unit. They have a wide range of experience and skills within the industry,

Assessment Methods
This course will be assessed by:
- Unitised online examinations
- Practical assessments
- Written coursework
- Presentations
These assessments take place throughout the course, assessment calendars are given to students to enable planning for theses assessments.

All students have the opportunity to meet with a Careers Advisor for 1:1 career support.
The Student Experience Team can mentor and signpost students who are struggling with a range of issues that are negatively impacting their day-to-day life. The Student Experience Team works closely with the Safeguarding & Lifestyle Teams to promote proactive wellbeing enrichment sessions. The team can refer on to counselling when appropriate.
We provide top-quality workshops and teaching areas across our Colleges for subjects such as art, design and media, hair and beauty, catering, automotive engineering and construction. You can review our campus facilities by navigating to the “College Life” section of our websites.

All of our students will have a personal tutor to support them with their academic progress and personal development. The tutorial programme consists of 1:1 support, group tutorials and guest speakers, plus targeted online resources which complement the UCS College Group Advantage scheme.
