A Levels

At Bridgwater College, we offer a dynamic and engaging A Level programme designed to help you thrive, with exclusive enrichment opportunities, international trips, and expert tutelage from devoted staff.

Your next step after GCSEs

After finishing your GCSEs, A Levels might feel like the natural next step. With a wide range of subjects to choose from, you’ll have the freedom to shape your future around your interests and ambitions.

Delve more into your love of English Literature or perhaps uncover a new passion like economics, history, or law. The choice is yours!

Why study A Levels?

We believe that learning goes far beyond the classroom. We ensure that, alongside our Outstanding teaching standards, our A Level students develop personally and socially, and make the most of incredible once-in-a-lifetime opportunities.

Academic Mentoring

You’ll have frequent tutorial sessions, 1:1 time with your academic mentor, and frequent guest speakers, UCAS support, and progression events.

Extended Project

We encourage all students to explore a topic they’re passionate about in-depth in the form of an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).

Honours Academy

If you’re aiming for a top university or competitive career, this academy offers extra support, workshops, and unique opportunities.

Your Own iPad

All of our Level 3 students will recieve a leased iPad to help support their studies, enabling them to make the most of the latest digital tools.

A bespoke enrichment programme

From our Law students visiting parliament, to our French students soaking up the glamour of Parisienne culture, we organise unforgettable trips designed to enrich you in your studies and broaden your horizons.

Our A Level department also offers a wide range of interesting and engaging enrichment activities to support you along your academic journey. Enrichment forms a crucial part of our A Level programme, and we encourage all our students to explore the opportunities we have an offer.

How you’ll learn

Over the course of two years, you’ll study three A Level subjects, with four and a half hours devoted to each subject per week. Independent work also forms a crucial part of each course, and will need to complete homework, research and wider reading to excel in your chosen subjects.

Our dedicated study spaces, just for A Level students, include a private study room and access to the wider Learning Resource Centre designed to support you in your studies, and provide you with the quiet environment and facilities you need to stay on track.

β€œI enjoyed being able to pick three subjects that I’m really passionate about. The independent learning style here lets me explore Psychology & Criminology in my own way. Plus, I really like how I can express myself in Photography.”
