A Level Spanish is your gateway to fluency and global understanding.

Build on your GCSE foundation through engaging social, historical, and political themes while gaining confidence in spoken Spanish. You’ll explore a powerful Spanish film, study literature, and carry out independent research on a topic of personal interest.

This course connects language with real-world issues, offering grammar support and cultural depth, ideal preparation for university, working abroad, or careers in languages, education, and international fields.

Assessment Methods

Most A Levels are assessed through formal examinations at the end of the two years, which may include up to three exams covering the entire programme of study.

Some subjects have a coursework or practical element in addition to examinations. Throughout your time at Bridgwater College, you will frequently undertake practice assessments to prepare you for your formal examinations. Regular internal assessment will take place as the course unfolds.

Progression Options

Studying A Levels prepares you for a variety of progression options. They serve as an ideal preparation for university, and typically, over 75% of our A Level students progress directly to universities, whether in the UK or overseas.

Many students choose to stay home and go far by studying a degree at University Centre Somerset.

Our mentors and subject lecturers will always support you through your UCAS application. However, university is not the only progression route for A Level students; many progress onto Higher Apprenticeships, work-based training, or employment.

Entry Requirements

The standard entry requirements for an A Level programme is a minimum of five GCSE passes at grade 4 or above, including maths and English.

As a recommendation, it is advantageous to gain at least a 5 in subjects you wish to continue studying as A Levels.
