Course Overview

The NVQ Diploma in Plumbing and Heating (APL) Level 2 is the natural progression route from the 6035-02 City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing Studies. Please only apply for this course if you have successfully completed the above qualification within the last 5 years and are working with qualified and competent plumber, for a minimum of 16 hours per week.

Learners will need to attend 1 evening per month, for 12 months to complete the multiple-choice exam and to gain support in compiling their portfolio of evidence, which will demonstrate the competence you have gained from working within the industry.

Units of study/what is involved

  • Understand how to apply environmental protection measures within building services engineering
  • Apply safe working practices in building services engineering working environment
  • Install and Maintain domestic plumbing and heating system

Assessment Methods

You will be assessed through a multiple-choice exam, site observations and by producing reflective accounts, which all will contribute towards your portfolio.

The College will provide an Assessor who will visit you in your workplace and support and assess how you are progressing.

Progression Options

Successful completion of the NVQ Diploma in Plumbing and Heating will enable you to apply for your first JIB Plumbers’ Blue CSCS Card.

Entry Requirements

You need to have successfully achieved 6035-02 City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing Studies within 5 years. Entry is also subject to a skills scan to ensure that your role is suitable to meet the criteria of the qualification.
