Course Overview

For those who are looking for entry level position in the food manufacturing industry, an Apprenticeship is a hands-on work-based route. It can be general, so many disciplines are covered or can be specialised for those with an interest in a specific area such as production, technical or product development.

The food industry is diverse and roles range from agronomy and food production through buying, product development, marketing and commercial sales. There are many associated roles such as financial, human resources, laboratory based, nutrition and health or sensory analysis.

  • COSHH
  • Food safety
  • Shift and product handovers
  • Principles of the Food supply chain
  • Principles of Food manufacturing practice
  • Quality assurance

Assessment Methods

Assessment is through practical assessment, written coursework, presentations and demonstrations, employer feedback, a portfolio and examination.

Progression Options

Upon completion of your Level 2 Apprenticeship you could progress on to the Level 3 Advanced Food Process operator, Level 3 Food Technology or supervisory roles within the food manufacturing industry.

Entry Requirements

Entry is subject to an initial assessment and interview. Industry experience welcomed but not essential.
