Course Overview

This standard is aligned with the job role focusing on maintaining and repairing engineering systems within one main discipline. The Single Discipline route provides an opportunity for Apprentices to study in some depth, one core engineering area (electrical or mechanical). The KSBs include themes such as fault finding, reading and interpreting technical drawings, working to health and safety regulations and supporting continuous improvement.

Assessment Methods

Assessment is through an End Point Assessment (EPA) taken at the end of the programme. It consists of a knowledge test, practical skills assessment, and professional discussion with a portfolio.

Progression Options

This Apprenticeship standard prepares apprentices to progress on into a HNC or Degree Apprenticeship.

Alternatively, apprentices may secure full time employment in roles such as Lead Technician, Multi-Skills Maintenance Technician or Engineering Supervisor.

Entry Requirements

You will need GCSEs in English and maths at Grade 4 or above.
