Course Overview

This one-year course will support your progression to the Level 3 in Barbering or employment, especially if you have an interest in male grooming and the barbering industry. You will also complete work experience.

This course will be delivered in our training salons along with classroom-based sessions. This programme will be structured to enable retakes of GCSE English and maths, if required.

Topics may include:

  • Health and safety
  • Client consultation
  • Shampooing and conditioning hair
  • Cutting men’s hair
  • Cutting facial hair.

Assessment Methods

Assessment is through a portfolio of evidence using a range of assessment methods. These may include individual research, project work, exams, and practical observations.

Progression Options

On successful completion of the course and meeting the GCSE requirements, you could progress to a Level 3 in Barbering. Alternatively, you could progress into employment, or an apprenticeship.

Entry Requirements

You need five GCSEs in the 9 to 3 range, including English and maths, and an appropriate Level 1 qualification. Entry is also subject to a successful interview and induction.

You will need to demonstrate passion and interest in the hair sector as well as a positive and professional attitude to learning.
