Course Overview
The Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge) for the Mechanical Maintenance pathway equips learners with the underpinning knowledge of mechanical systems, maintenance techniques, fault diagnosis, engineering principles, materials, and health and safety required to perform effectively as a skilled maintenance engineer or technician within manufacturing and industrial environments.
Topics will include Health and Safety in the Engineering Workplace, Communication and Teamwork in Engineering, Applied Science and Mathematics for Engineering.
Topics may include:
- Mechanical principles of Engineering systems
- Engineering maintenance procedures and techniques
- Properties and applications of engineering materials
- Engineering drawing
- Principles of Engineering measurement
- Manufacturing planning.
Please note: there is a £2,000 one-off cost (pathway specific).
Assessment Methods
Assessment is through a mix of both written assignments and observations.
Learners will submit assessments through One File for review and feedback. At least one observation in practice will take place during the programme, to gather any workplace specific supporting evidence to showcase their application of knowledge.
Progression Options
You could progress to roles in industry such as an Engineering Maintenance Technician, Mechanical Fitter, Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer, and Manufacturing Engineering Technician.
Entry Requirements
You will need GCSEs in English and maths at a minimum grade 4, or alternatively English and maths functional skills at Level 2.
