Welcome to the Engineering Department at the Bridgwater Campus! Our comprehensive engineering apprenticeship program is designed to provide aspiring individuals with a dynamic and hands-on learning experience, paving the way for a rewarding career in the world of engineering. This apprenticeship offers a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, preparing you for the challenges and opportunities in the engineering industry.

This Apprenticeship standard will prepare you to produce complex and precision machined products that are typically used in machinery. You can also produce bespoke components or products for domestic appliances or medical equipment, using a variety of machines to carry out your work and gain competence and skill in doing so.

Location: Based at the Engineering Department of the Bridgwater Campus, our state-of-the-art facilities provide the ideal environment for your learning journey. The campus is equipped with cutting-edge technology and resources, ensuring that you receive the highest quality education.

Assessment Methods

During your first and second year on programme, you will complete a level 3 BTEC diploma in Engineering evidencing knowledge through written assessments and practical assessments. At the end of your apprenticeship programme, you will complete an End Point Assessment which will consist of a practical demonstration, technical interview and general knowledge test.

Progression Options

You may progress onto further study in Engineering Maintenance or Manufacturing. Alternatively, you may progress into job roles such as a full time Machining Technician in industry.

Entry Requirements

You are required to evidence a minimum of a grade 4 GCSE or L2 Functional skills equivalent in English and Maths at enrolment.
